People Moves: Zurich boutique Thomas Lloyd Group appoints Smita Nakhooda as its first Head of Impact & ESG

Press Release - Thomas Lloyd Group, an asset manager based in Zurich has appointed its first Head of Impact and ESG. Smita Nakhooda started in the new role at the group on Monday. She will help develop the group's investment processes and work on internal and external corporate initiatives.

She reports directly to Chief Executive Officer Michael Sieg. Thomas Lloyd also has a Head of Research and ESG, which is Nick Parsons.

Nakhooda joins from the Asian Development Bank, where she was most recently a principal results management specialist. She was responsible for leading the integration of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals into the bank's policies and key performance indicators. She also worked on the development of impact measurement.

She previously worked as a senior research fellow at the Overseas Development Institute in London, focusing on examining the role of financial markets in addressing climate change.

Sieg said: 'As an Indian national and having worked in the Philippines for several years, Smita brings unique local insights and on-the-ground expertise that will be key in helping us tap into the most compelling sustainable infrastructure investment opportunities in the world's fastest-growing economies.'

Thomas Lloyd focuses on impact investing in emerging markets across Asia. In 2021, it listed an energy impact trust on the London Stock Exchange, which focuses on Asian sustainable energy infrastructure.

In the same year, the asset manager announced its executive board is now 50% female, following the appointment of Miriam Plater as chief people officer.
