People Moves: Standard Chartered hires Raymond Cheng from JP Morgan as CIO for North Asia
Media Article - Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Raymond Cheng as its chief investment officer (CIO), North Asia, reporting to Steve Brice, group CIO.
In this newly created role, Cheng, who will be based in Hong Kong, will be responsible for the CIO office's coverage and capabilities for the North Asia region, and represent the CIO office's views to the bank's affluent clients.
Cheng joins from JP Morgan Private Bank where he was the head of Asia equity strategy, leading a team that was responsible for developing Asian equity views and themes as well as issuing security specific recommendations. Prior to that, he was the head of research at Bank of Communications and Bank of China.
"The ongoing global market volatility has meant that clients are increasingly looking to us to help them understand what's happening in the markets and navigate the uncertainties," Brice says. "We look forward to Cheng's rich experience in and knowledge of the North Asian markets to engage our clients at a different level."
