People Moves: Regal London renews ESG focus with new Board hire
Press Release - Residential-led mixed-use developer - Regal London - announces the appointment of Ghislaine Halpenny as a Board Director to lead on ESG and Corporate Affairs. The new appointment underlines the business' commitment to sustainability, which includes supporting local people in the areas where they work, creating a net zero carbon roadmap and placing diversity and inclusion at the core of the business.
Ghislaine is responsible for driving the sustainability strategy forward, managing relationships with a variety of key stakeholders including local and central Government, and for ensuring that the company continues to recruit and retain the best talent in the real estate sector - through creating a new diversity and inclusion programme that helps to improve employee engagement, performance and ultimately organisational success.
"This is a truly exciting time to be joining the Board of Regal London, an entrepreneurial business going from strength to strength with a significant pipeline ahead. I'm looking forward to working with the wider leadership team to ensure that we continue to add real value to our stakeholders, and that we continue to put diversity and inclusion at the heart of our organisation."
Commented Ghislaine Halpenny, Director of ESG & Corporate Affairs, Regal London.
Prior to joining Regal London last year (2021), Ghislaine was Director of Strategy & External Affairs at the British Property Federation (BPF), the representative body for the commercial real estate sector, a role she had held since 2015.
"Ghislaine's promotion to the Regal London Board is recognition of the impact that she has had since joining the business and underlines the importance that we place on building healthy, diverse and successful communities - both within our own business, and in the areas in which we work.
"We're looking forward to Ghislaine continuing the successful delivery of our sustainability strategy, driving our diversity programme as Regal London's 'People's Champion', and to continue building relationships and furthering connections throughout the wider real estate industry."
Said Jonathan Seal, Chief Executive Officer, Regal London.
Regal London currently has a pipeline of around £3.8bn GDV across ten developments, totalling over 4,500 homes with 750,000 sq ft of commercial space in boroughs including Brent, Barnet, Tower Hamlets and Hackney. Last month, Regal London also announced it entered the purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) sector with a scheme in Wembley, London.
As part of company's wider sustainability strategy, it also launched the first Regal London Real Estate Academy in Watford last week, established in partnership with charity Building Heroes to provide skilled training to military veterans and members of local marginalised groups.
