News: ICE calls on members to support RedR's work in quake-hit Turkey and Syria

10/02/2023

By Anh Nguyen (Institute of Civil Engineers) - ICE members are being encouraged to support RedR UK, a charity providing technical expertise in the earthquake-hit regions of Turkey and Syria.

RedR UK ensures that people responding to disasters have the skills to do so safely and effectively.

The disaster relief charity is already present in the Middle East, and has been delivering training on structural detailing and damage assessments in Syria.

Its work focuses on supporting structural engineers and construction specialists to assess damage to infrastructure, repair damaged buildings, and retrofit to build future resilience against earthquakes.

How to help

If members are able to, the ICE is asking them to consider donating to RedR's Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Appeal.

This will enable RedR to continue to use its presence in the region to provide technical expertise where it can.
