People Moves: Barclays appoints Dave Dai as Head of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) Research for APAC

Press Release - Barclays Plc has appointed Dave Dai as Head of ESG Research for APAC effective as of 8 June 2022. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Marie Freier, Global Head of ESG Research, in London.

As the bank continues to strive to align our investments with ESG considerations, Barclays Research is systematically integrating ESG into our research across asset classes, with a focus on materiality and forward-looking indicators. Our Global ESG Research Team is made up of subject matter experts, including climate scientists, former senior policy advisors and corporate sustainability consultants. This team works to partner with our research analysts across all coverage to identify material ESG issues to asset classes, sectors and companies under coverage.

Mr. Dai will lead APAC ESG Research to further integrate these initiatives.

Mr. Dai has a proven track record in the space and was one of a small number of analysts in the Asian market who received Top 3 ranking for both corporate survey and research survey by the Institutional Investor. He joins Barclays from one of China's leading natural gas companies Tian Lun Gas (1600.HK), where he was Chief Strategy Officer and Head of ESG, leading on ESG and capital markets initiatives. Prior to that, Mr. Dai was a sell-side equity analyst for 13 years covering Asian new energy and utilities, including close to seven years with Credit Suisse, before which he also worked at Daiwa Capital Markets and CLSA.

Mr. Dai graduated from the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.
