People Moves: Sidi Ould Tah elected as ninth President of the African Development Bank Group
Press Release -- Today, Sidi Ould Tah of Mauritania has been elected President of the African Development Bank Group during the Bank's Annual Meetings held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. This prestigious position reflects the confidence the member countries place in Tah's capabilities to steer the Bank towards its development objectives.
The election was conducted by the Bank's Board of Governors, which includes Finance and Economy Ministers or Central Bank Governors from the Bank Group's 81 regional and non-regional member countries. The Board of Governors serves as the highest decision-making authority for the Bank Group, ensuring that the organization meets its goals effectively.
The announcement regarding the election results was made by Nialé Kaba, the Minister of Planning and Development. This communication marks a significant step for the Bank as it embarks on new initiatives under Sidi Ould Tah's leadership, aiming to foster economic growth and reduce poverty across the African continent.
