The move sees David Lewis promoted to the new role of Co-Head of Strategy

LONDON, England - May 13, 2021 (CITYWIRE SELECTOR) - Jupiter has made a series of internal appointments within the Jupiter Independent Funds "Merlin" team. David Lewis has been promoted to Co-Head of Strategy and Algy Smith-Maxwell has been promoted to Research Director.

Founded in 2001, the Jupiter Independent Funds range includes 10 portfolios with assets under management of £ 6.8 billion.

With this change, David Lewis (pictured) will be promoted to Independent Funds, co-head of the strategy, and will work with team head John Chatfeild-Roberts. Lewis has been a member of the investment team for 10 years.

Algy Smith-Maxwell takes on the role of research director Independent Funds, taking a step back from day-to-day fund management. Smith-Maxwell, who joined Jupiter from Lazard Asset Management in 2001, is one of the founding members of the Jupiter Merlin team and has worked with John Chatfeild-Roberts for over 20 years.

His new role will focus on developing team research capabilities, asset classes, management teams, and overseeing analysis of potential investment areas.

Amanda Sillars has been appointed ESG Director, Independent Funds. This is a role she plays in parallel with her responsibility for managing the fund. She leads the team's ESG research and engagement and works with Jupiter's governance and sustainability team to implement best practices for all funds in the Marlin range.

George Fox, who began his investment career at Jupiter as a graduate trainee in 2018, has been promoted to an assistant fund manager's independent fund.

Stephen Pearson, CIO of Jupiter, said:

"The Jupiter Marlin team has been at the heart of the UK investment industry for many years. During that time at Jupiter, the team showed real continuity for the client in terms of its process, its performance and its people".

"We are pleased to be in a position to make these changes, reshape the team structure and promote our internal talent while maintaining the unique character that has defined the team for many years."

Chatfeild-Roberts added:

"Jupiter Marlin exists to serve our customers. As a team, we share one goal. It is about maximizing the profits of our clients through long-term investments in excellent funds managed by talented individuals. It's a formula that has helped us for years."

"Congratulations on the new roles of David, Amanda and George. Each adds an exciting new dimension to the strategy. I have been working with David for many years and have long appreciated his commitment and keen analysis. I am very much looking forward to working with him to lead this next stage of team growth."

"We are also pleased that Argy will continue to be an important part of the Marlin team. As he develops new roles, we will all benefit from his experience and expertise."

The team will continue to be supported by investment director Alastair Irvine, who joined Jupiter to work with the Marlin team in 2015.
